After lapse of six years, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd. has decided that it is time that they give their popular Yamaha Nouvo series line a new complete change. So they came out with the Yamaha Nouvo LC.

Besides giving a totally new change in the body outlook, they also upgraded the engine capacity from 115cc to 135cc but still maintaining the 4-stroke 2-valve SOHC automatic Continuous Variable Transmission. This means that this model has the biggest engine fitted into an under bone bodied motorcycle in this industry. On top of this, they added liquid-cooled radiator to ensure the engine will always be at its maximum efficiency and eliminate overheating on long journeys. Definitely good news to potential customers who have waited so long for the power and smoothness in their ride especially in congested urban area where it is hot and constantly meet a stop and go situation.

This model was recently launched by them at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel on 18th August 2008 and was grace by YB Tan Sri Dato’ Muhyiddin Bin Mohd. Yassin, Minister of International Trade and Industry.

The theme of this launch was “to witness a masterpiece from Yamaha- A Class Above”.

The new Yamaha Nouvo LC is fitted with Mikuni BS26x1 type carburetor and an aluminum DiASiL (die-cast aluminum cylinder) to ensure good response and more important to deliver a good performance and combustion efficiency of the engine. As for the clutch system, it is equipped with a continuously variable transmission (stepless) and dry automatic centrifugal clutch system.

The front suspension is the usual telescopic front forks and but the rear swinging arm is accompanied with a twin-tube shock absorbers. To counter our not so well maintain roads surfaces, Yamaha Nouvo LC comes with 16-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels front and rear (tubeless) so as to give the riders a smoother ride. For the braking system they maintain the single piston front disc brake and rear drum brake. Other cosmetic changes also has been made, this includes the body cover - more sharp edges were added with large seat for comfortable ride. The other features that they maintain are the unique V-shape headlight and the retroreflector taillight.

Like in the previous Yamaha launching, they tempt us with a customize unit too. The last launch was the "FZ150i Concept Bike" and this time the "Nouvo LC Customized" and sad to say, it is not for SALE again.
